Kindergartens

The kindergartens in Norway are run in different ways, both public and private. In Salangen we have 5 public kindergartens.

Generally there are 3 adults’ pr 18 places, 1 pedagogue and 2 assistants/child and youth – workers.

Children under the age of 3 years count 2 places.

Every kindergarten has a manager with preschool – teacher education and a educational leader in the department.

In a small kinder garden the manager has a 2 – part job: Both in the department and the office.

Kindergartens in Salangen municipality:

We have at present 5 public kinder gardens. 4 of these have 1 department and 1 has 2 departments.

Strandbu kindergarten (in Salangen Center has a department from 0 – 5 years and one department from 3 – 6 years.

Medby, Øvre – Salangen and Laberg kindergarten is for children from age 0 – 6 years.

Indregård kindergarten is for children age 0 – 3 years old. There are 13 children (max) and 4 staff.

The law says that all children have the right to get a place at kindergarten at main entry if they are 1 years of age within august. The kindergarten year /term is from august to July.
